Job Description
Our client is recruiting for Head of Operations to take lead of the business operations at Executive Committee level in the disciplines of Information Technology, Technology Risk, Cybersecurity, Operations, Payments, Customer Services, Outsourcing, Business Continuity, Data Protection and Operational Resilience.
Main Duties:
* Accountable for the strategic planning and delivery of operations and systems to enable general processing, customer service, effective outsourcing of services, business continuity and operational resilience within the business
* Leverage the advantages of bringing together operational expertise and drive through efficient ways of working
* Contribute to the Bank’s leadership with dedicated and singular focus on execution and delivery.
* Represent the Head of Operations function at Executive Committee (ExCo) and ensure the correct specialist knowledge is conveyed to inform the committee according to agenda requirements.
* Ensure strategic objectives shaped at Executive Management level are translated into tactical business plans with mechanisms for key measurements in place to monitor progress.
* Ensure business change projects are delivered in line with directions from ExCo level.
* Coordinate the efforts of the different operational areas under management to ensure minimal duplication of efforts, maximum efficiency and value for money.
* Balance resources between different areas e.g. reallocating headcount and budgets, but within overall approved resources for the year.
* To act as the DPO and ensure required regulatory activities are supported.
* Contribute to the development of business unit strategy by providing opinion on potential improvements for services and an assessment of the existing situation and anticipated changes in the external environment.
* Manage departmental budgets including approval of invoices and quotes within mandate. Escalate out of budgets items to the HoF for approval.
* Analyse effectiveness of processes and systems in use in general for the Bank and recommend corrective action or automation.
* Review performance against business plan as prescribed by the Board and agreed at ExCo, discuss gaps and agree on action plans to close gaps.
* Benchmark productivity of the department against industry standards and create measures to improve productivity.
* Build strong relationships with key external stakeholders, suppliers, etc. to ensure correct focus and direction for the bank at operations and technology level.
* Ensure an effective and efficient operating model is maintained.
* Work with direct reports to achieve excellent business results through continuous people development and mentoring activities.
* Ensure the development of a high-performing team through embedding formal Performance Development and informally coaching direct reports on how to conduct the process effectively.
* Ensure capacity planning and project planning are undertaken to identify resource requirements.
* Measure output quality against agreed service standards
* Monitor the strict adherence to governance and setting high standards of professionalism across the functions within Operations.
Skills & Experience required
* Good understanding of regulation and compliance within organisations authorised by the FCA and PRA. Comfortable with a smaller organisation culture and pace. Cultural fit, hands on practical/pragmatic approach
* At least 5-10 years general operations Management / Senior management experience at senior level within Financial Services, ideally a smaller bank environment.
* Experience of outsourcing, business continuity/operational resilience, Project Management, UK GDPR, Privacy and Data Protection, Risk Management, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology infrastructure.
* Full understanding of banking operations within a highly regulated environment is a must
