Your interviewer will be looking to see how well you learn, how much training, practical learning you are still looking to do and how well you understand the role of the pharmacist.
Some questions that you could be asked to assess your skills in this role would be as follows:
- To measure medication out for customers requires great attention to detail, how do you concentrate for long periods of time?
- What would happen (do you think) if you gave the wrong dosage to the pharmacist to check?
- How good are your mathematical skills?
- What units do you think liquid medicines are measured in?
- How many paracetamols can someone buy over the counter at once?
Some of the questions are specific to a private pharmacist but give you an idea about the role and
the fact that you will need to service customer’s drugs and medication that they can buy over the counter.
You will require strong communication and customer service skills for this role as well as a thirst for learning, your interviewer will be looking to see where you want your career to go in five years time, do you want to train to be a pharmacist for example? Whatever you are looking to do it is important to express your prior working knowledge within this area, how did you choose to do this role as your career choice?
You can take some time and think about the answers of following questions too:
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- Why do you want this job?
- Where would you like to be in your career five years from now?
- What’s your ideal company?
- What attracted you to this company?
- Why should we hire you?
- What did you like least about your last job?
- When were you most satisfied in your job?
- What can you do for us that other candidates can’t?
- What were the responsibilities of your last position?
Good luck.
