Banking Officer Interview Questions and Helpful Tips

If you have been given an interview for a Banking Officer then you will have previous experience in the Banking world. A banking officer will deal with customer’s accounts in terms of paying any money out or paying money in, dealing with foreign currency, referring customers to different departments etc. You will need excellent customer service skills and a good knowledge of banking products and services to be able to do this role.

Before attending any interview you will need to research the bank that you are hoping to work for and find out exactly where your interview is to be held as it may not necessarily be at the branch where the role is advertised. There is nothing worse than getting flustered before an interview because you haven’t prepared the journey and know how you are traveling there and where you can park if you are going by car. This is why you must research all areas of the entire interview from beginning to end.

Once you are comfortable with this then it is very important to match your CV with the job description and figure out what you are happy doing and what parts you may need training on. Better to find this out before you go to the interview and get confronted with a question you can’t answer.
Some potential questions you could be asked are:

  • What do you understand about current accounts and investment accounts?

  • What are ISA’s?

  • How do you provide good customer service?

  • What do you think is good customer service?

  • If you had a choice what would your ideal customer be and why?

There are numerous questions that you could be asked but may focus on the individual bank and products/services that they sell that is why it is so important to ensure that you have done your research well.

many interviewers are asking traditional interview questions as well as job related technical questions. See the ones that are most asked:

  • Tell me about yourself.

  • What are your strengths?

  • What are your weaknesses?

  • Why do you want this job?

  • Where would you like to be in your career five years from now?

  • What’s your ideal company?

  • What attracted you to this company?

  • Why should we hire you?

Good luck.
