Example Answers for "What Have You Been Doing Since Your Last Job?" Interview Question

1-

“Since I left my last job I have been scouring the job market for a suitable position to come up. Most people told me to go out and apply for anything and everything but I really only want a job I know I can last in. So I have been doing research on companies that fit my skill set and seeing where they have vacancies. I have also been spending some of the time doing an online learning course as I felt my math skills could do with a little sharpening. I really don’t like down time so I was pleased to be able to do that. I also joined a gym and have been visiting there daily to try and get myself a little fitter, and if offered the job I would be walking to work each day.”

“Since I left my last job I have been volunteering at a local charity shop to keep myself busy, after all, what is the point of sitting at home doing nothing when I can be doing some good for the world? It gave me some extra experience as they use a different till system to my previous store, but it has been fantastic being able to keep myself occupied and help and learn all at the same time!”

“Since I left my last job I have been recuperating. I had to leave due to illness, and have been concentrating on getting myself well again. As my previous job was very technical I have been keeping myself up to speed with the latest developments via the internet. I also set up a blog dedicated to mobile phones so that I could stay abreast of the latest user problems and issues, so that when I was physically well enough to get back into the workplace, I wouldn’t have so much mental fitness to regain. I found doing the blog kept me socialised with the tech type people I missed through not being at work, and so I also made a lot of useful new contacts through networking in that manner. So although I wasn’t employed, I utilised my time as gainfully as possible, and I am ready to hit the ground running!”
